Latest Savile Row menu takes inspiration from its namesake

Brisbane cocktail bar Savile Row has debuted its latest cocktail menu, Volume 8, marking eight years since the Fortitude Valley venue first swung its doors open.

Continuing Savile Row’s tradition of drawing inspiration from its namesake – the famed London street known for its bespoke tailoring – Volume 8 dives deeper into the craft that defines the legendary street.

At the helm of the new menu is Bar Manager Leah Dunnigan, who, alongside the Savile Row team, has crafted a collection of drinks that reflect the design houses and figures that have contributed to Savile Row’s storied past.

The collection of 16 cocktails takes its inspiration from the likes of military dressmakers and contemporary pioneers, with highlights such as The Foxtail and Pop Stitch.

The Foxtail represents Gormley & Gamble, the trailblazing women-led tailoring house of Savile Row, known for mixing masculine structure with feminine nuance. The cocktail has been designed to capture the same balance, incorporating Single Malt Masters, Aperol, spiced orange soda and a cloud of coconut air foam.

Leah says: “The Foxtail captures that fearless G&G balance. The smooth richness of Singleton Malt Masters sets a refined foundation, while Aperol adds a vibrant, bittersweet edge. You’ll just have to try it to find out the rest – but it packs a lively, effervescent kick!”

Pop Stitch is another bold expression, inspired by Ozwald Boateng, whose reputation for bold colour palates and rich fabrics makes him one of the true forefathers of contemporary tailoring. Layer upon layer, Pop Stitch combines Hendricks Gin, fino sherry, rhubarb and rose, champagne jelly, cucumber and lime soda and Davidson plum powder.

“The Pop Stitch is bold in flavour, layered in texture, and unapologetically expressive,” Leah explains. “Hendrick’s gin forms the base, layered with a silky rhubarb and rose jelly and a bunch of other wonderful surprises you wouldn’t expect. Just like Boateng’s suits, it’s not just seen – it’s felt!”

Other highlights include Daisy’s corset (Fennel Casamigos Tequila, Rhubi Mistelle, orgeat, pastis, lemon and apple salt) and The Golden Hem (toasted sunflower, Buffalo Trace, smoked lemon crème, amontillado and shaved frozen peach).
